The Classic Yaesu FT-290R
I am delighted ton have in the radio-shack once again the classic Yaesu FT-290R - 2m FM / LSB / USB / CW Rig. I was speaking to a fellow local radio ham the other day via our local repeater GB3JL and he was mentioning getting onto 2m SSB.
Anyway a quick look around eBay and there was one just listed. So I grabbed it. Its 90% working as it should I think im going to be sending it off for a full service as these radios are become rare. Especially as they really are a classic radio. The only other way to get onto 2m SSB would be to buy a Yaesu FT817 or a 818 the later model or there is firmware mods for the Quangsheng radios. But they are not built to work on SSB so I would be quite concerned.
